As a fresh water spring is pure, healthy, and promotes new growth, The Springs promotes overall healing, physical wellness and healthy lifestyles.
Our Goals:
What is The Springs?
The Springs, combines occupational medicine with physical, occupational, and massage therapy, under one roof, to provide a comprehensive approach for managing an individual's recovery from illness or injury. Our occupational medicine staff conducts initial evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment of all forms of occupational injury. Our rehabilitation therapists help people recover physically and with the occupational skills to get back to their lives. Clinical specialists educate on topics that can affect a person's life, such as geriatrics, occupational health and lymphedema. Housed together, medical providers, clinical specialists, and therapist have the opportunity to meet regularly in multidisciplinary conferences, to offer patients a global approach to injury resolution.
Our Facility
The Springs is a fully renovated, 13,000 square-foot facility. The bright, clean, interior exudes a feeling of energy and renewal. With six exam rooms, five patient treatment rooms, two lymphedema treatment rooms and two massage therapy rooms, patients have access to a wide range of services.
The Springs therapy area includes an Activities of Daily Living (ADL) kitchen and bathroom to educate and train patients after serious medical conditions such as stroke or traumatic brain injury, as well as a full hand therapy area and work conditioning/hardening equipment. Two fully-equipped exercise rooms house equipment such as Solo steps for gait training, Nu-steps, treadmills and arm bikes for overall therapeutic interventions.
Our Services
Occupational Medicine
The Springs is recognized as a Washington State-designated Center of Occupational Health and Education (COHE). Working closely with Labor and Industries, the aim is to improve outcomes for on-the-job injuries while reducing the cost for the employers. The Springs includes a full-service "return to work" program including medical providers, therapists, and case managers who understand the challenges associated with work-related injuries, and can cut through the red tape to get people back to work sooner.
Rehabilitation and Therapy Services
Physical Therapy uses physical agents such as E-stim (electrical stimulation), ultrasound, traction and hot or cold temperatures, to help improve muscular function after injury, illness or surgery. Treatment also encompasses improving strength and decreasing pain. The key areas of focus in treatment is working with neurological operations or balance, orthopaedics, post surgical motion, pulmonary strength and any other injury/illness that limits the patient's function.
Occupational Therapy works to improve fine motor control and improve cognition so those seeking care can take better care of themselves. Occupational Therapy focuses on teaching self-care skills such as dressing, feeding, bathing and working to help patients integrate back into their environment.
Massage Therapy seeks to help decrease stress, muscle tension and pain while improving muscle mobility, making it easier for individuals to function in daily activities. Our massage therapists can provide many types of massage ranging from a Swedish relaxation massage to deep tissue work. A doctor's prescription is required for insurance billing.
Aquatic therapy is available at The Spring's satellite location at Memorial's 16th Avenue Pavilion. Programs held in the warm water therapeutic pool (92 degrees) include traditional physical/occupational therapy treatments as well as a certified arthritis programs and water walking programs. With the aid of the water's buoyancy and resistance, specially designed exercises and gentle movements assist in relieving pain, increasing motion and restoring overall function.
Our Key Areas of Focus include a number or neurological and musculoskeletal disorders.
